Spread the fragrance of Christ
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
- 2 Corinthians 2:14
God has done a great work in our lives! In Christ, we’ve passed from darkness to light, from death to eternal life. Just as the Romans would celebrate their victories with a triumphal procession, we too march with Christ in a victorious parade, celebrating what He has done in and through us.
Incense played an important role in Roman victory marches. The people didn’t just witness the triumph they could smell it. In the same way, we reveal the transformation Christ has made in our lives and spread His sweet fragrance through our actions and attitudes. And for what purpose? So that others may come to know Christ.
How can you do this? Fill your heart with the love of God and choose to love those around you in practical ways that glorify Him. Remember: when you serve others with love, you are serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
- Matthew 25:35–40

God turns the storm into a gentle breeze
Have you ever found yourself on a boat in the middle of a storm? It's a terrible feeling of helplessness. You don't know what to do and you can't find a place to escape. Wherever you go, the boat moves and it's hard to stand. All that's left is to wait for the calm to come.
28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
29 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
Psalm 107:28-29
Throughout our lives, we go through many storms. Some are small, like missing someone you love who has moved to another city. Others are big storms that trigger fear and a great sense of helplessness. Cry out to the Lord in these moments! He hasn't forgotten about you. Trust, and persevere in Him, and you will see how He comes to your aid, turning the storm into a gentle breeze.
We should remember that Jesus encountered a very real storm in The New Testament:
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Mark 4:38-40
This story of Jesus calming the storm is a reminder that when we face trials and challenges we should place our trust in Jesus and persevere in our faith. When we do this we will find sufficient peace and strength to overcome even the tallest obstacles. Just as Jesus calmed the storm for his disciples, he will come to our aid, bringing calmness and reassurance to our lives when we trust in him with all our hearts.

Do you have disciples?
An important part of the mission Jesus entrusted to us is to make disciples.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
- Matthew 28:18–20
God has called us to spread His message of salvation and to multiply. There are many people around us who have not yet received God’s love in their hearts. They may be our family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors… There are people everywhere who have not yet experienced God’s forgiveness or the hope of eternal life.
How can we reach them? By showing God’s love and speaking about the wonderful things He has done for us. Simple gestures, such as a smile or a kind word, can impact people and lead them to ask questions that open the door to talk about Jesus.
Ask God to help you reach others with His love, and cover every kind gesture with prayer for the other person. Perhaps one day, not too far away, you will be able to share the good news of salvation, and that person will become your disciple for the glory of God.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
- Matthew 5:16
Who can you reach today with the love of God? Shine in the light of Christ and help someone draw closer to Him.
