Today's Word

Get ready to persevere in hard times

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
- James 5:10-11

These verses invite us to look to the prophets and Job as examples of suffering and patience. They faced terrible trials but remained steadfast in faith, trusting in God’s goodness and mercy. Even though Job lost everything he had and endured deep afflictions, he never gave up his faith. His story shows us that when the bad days come, God is present, working through every situation.

Are you facing difficulties? Do you feel tempted to give up or doubt God’s faithfulness? Don’t. Remember that in Christ, suffering is an opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Lord. He will help you persevere, trusting fully that God is working for your good even when you don’t understand the process.

God is compassionate and merciful, as we see at the end of Job’s story. After his trials, God restored him and gave him more than he had lost. In the same way, you and I must prepare with faith, knowing that God never abandons us in our trials. Difficulties may be inevitable, but if we stand firm in the Lord, we will be strengthened and blessed.

Defend the defenseless

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
- Proverbs 31:8–9

There is much injustice in this world, and we must not close our eyes or our mouths to it. The Bible calls us to speak on behalf of those who cannot speak, to defend the defenseless, and to seek justice for them.

This is not an easy task. How do we do it? First, by filling ourselves with the Lord and His Holy Spirit. As we seek God’s guidance, He will give us wisdom and open doors so that we can defend the defenseless and the destitute using both our voices and our actions.

Second, identify the groups in need in your surroundings. Some vulnerable groups are children, the elderly, immigrants, single mothers and single fathers, the poor, and the sick. Pray for God to show you how you can help them in practical ways and lift your voice in their defense.

Finally, consider the resources God has given you and look for opportunities to use them to benefit those in need. For example, you can sponsor children so they can attend school, contribute to a food bank, or volunteer to spend time with the elderly a few hours each month.

Let your voice and actions declare your desire to defend the defenseless in the name of the Lord. Above all, pray for the defenseless. God can do great things when His people pray with a willing heart.

You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
- Psalm 10:17

Word of the Day: Be ready for a complete transformation

We will see changes in our situations when we embrace the help of God. God wants to give us a complete and satisfying life. But we have to learn to fight for what is important and to call upon the power of God.

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
Jeremiah 33:3

When you call out to God, He hears you and comes to your aid. God does not ignore your prayers but faithfully acts to answer your pleas.

Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.
Isaiah 65:24

Do not think that if you do not receive an immediate answer, God has forgotten you. It is not so, changes aren't necessarily immediate. He listens to you and takes action,

Sometimes He shapes us with gentle touches. Just as the potter molds clay with patience and dedication, God molds us to become more like Him.

The important thing is that you allow Him to do His work in you. For example, if you struggle with fear, ask God to help you trust in His protective power. Call out to the Father. Fill your heart with trust. And also, allow Him to transform you every day, to give you encouragement and courage. Fill your heart more with His Spirit and let Him transform you so that you can be more like Jesus.

God can transform you in every part of your life, for example:

  • Family: God can transform the family by bringing love, forgiveness, and unity. God can heal wounds, strengthen bonds, and build a nurturing environment when we become more Christ-like, and embrace his teachings.

  • Relationships: God can transform us through his gifts of unconditional love and complete forgiveness. When we show others biblical love, respect, and selflessness, God can bring restoration, harmony, and mutual growth.

  • Work: God transforms us in the workplace by inspiring integrity, excellence, and humility. By relying on His wisdom and strength, we can approach our work with diligence, stewardship, and a servant's heart. God can also provide opportunities for growth, promotion, and using our skills to glorify Him.

  • Ministry: God brings transformation by equipping us with the fruits of the spirit, passion, and vision to serve others. He deepens our faith, compassion, and dependence on Him as we seek to fulfill His calling. Through prayer, discipleship, and obedience to His Word, God can empower us to impact lives, build His kingdom, and bring glory to His name.
