Today's Word

Word of the Day: God has open arms, God wants to forgive you.

God wants to forgive you! Perhaps you're feeling distant, far from God, because you've done something wrong and your conscience weighs heavily on you.

20 So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

This story of The Prodigal (or 'Lost') Son shows how much God loves and forgives us. In the story, a young man asks his dad for his share of the money which he then goes and spends foolishly. When he has nothing left, he returns home, feeling truly sorry. Although he anticipates working for his dad what happens is that his dad welcomes him back with open arms and throws a big party.

No matter how far we wander from Him, or how many mistakes we make, God is always ready to forgive us when we decide to come back to Him. God is filled with compassion. God runs out to us, hugs us, and shows us His endless love and mercy.

It's true, sin is a trap that sometimes catches us in stubbornness and pride. But do you want to return to God's arms? The truth is, He is eager to forgive you! Just approach God knowing that you have done wrong - knowing, like the prodigal son, that you are ' no longer worthy to be called [...] son', - and God's grace will sustain you. Or, as it says in the Methodist Holy Communion Service: "Lord, we come to your table, trusting in your mercy and not in any goodness of our own. We are not worthy even to gather up the crumbs under your table, but it is your nature always to have mercy, and on that we depend."

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

He is faithful and He is just. He will forgive you. Don't wait any longer! Are you ready to depend on Him?

Find peace in Jesus

In the midst of fear, hatred, and violence in the world, where can you find peace? In Jesus! The whole world may be burning around you, but Jesus can give you a peace that does not depend on circumstances. When you love Jesus, you can be certain that He is in control of your life and that He will help you.

Regardless of the flames that may be consuming the world around us, Jesus offers a peace that rises above all problems. This peace is not fragile; it is not shaken by the storms of life. It is a peace that dwells deeply in the hearts of those who love Him and trust in Him.

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we trust that He is in control. We know that He is always willing to help us and guide us through the challenges we face. This faith gives us a sense of tranquility and security that goes beyond the worries of the world.

In Jesus, we find a beacon of hope, an anchor that keeps us firm even in the most difficult moments. He invites us to lay our burdens on Him and to rest in His peace. Thus, even in the midst of adversity, we find the true peace that the world cannot offer. Therefore, when you look for peace in a troubled world, find it in Jesus, for He is the unshakable source of peace and comfort.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- John 14:27

Meeting with other Christians is a Blessing

God did not create us to live in solitude. He desires that we have healthy relationships with those around us. Our brothers and sisters in faith are treasures from God in our lives, helping us on our journey with the Lord. Therefore, we should value each one, and avoid conflicts, treating everyone with God's sublime love.

not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:25

Do not stop congregating. It is very important to stay connected to a faith community where the Word of God is proclaimed faithfully. Where you can bless and be blessed by communion. Many brothers and sisters leave their congregations and by distancing themselves from the family, take the risk of walking alone. But listening to messages and sermons online is not the same as being part of the Church of Christ.

The Church is like a large flock of the Lord, shepherded collectively. Sheep alone become easy targets for the Enemy.

If you are away from communion with the church, it is time to return! God wants you to grow spiritually alongside a family that is also growing. There are no perfect churches, but you can contribute to make yours more like Jesus. Be the person you hope others will be to you. Love, care, help, support, and encourage other brothers and sisters in faith to persevere in the Christian journey.
