Today's Word

Teaching that grows and corrodes

Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
- Matthew 16:12

Jesus is concerned about what kind of teaching His disciples are receiving. Teaching is not acquired only by sitting in a classroom for hours, but also through daily interaction and conversations. Jesus’ disciples would not gather to listen to just any teacher; Jesus was concerned about the teaching transmitted within their circle of friends, in their environments of fellowship.

Today it is very easy for us to absorb ideas and worldviews that have very little of Christ and no biblical foundation. Unfortunately, these false teachings end up reaching many people and confusing the understanding of those whose fundamental foundations of biblical Truth are not well established.

Remember the warning Jesus Himself left us:

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
- Matthew 24:24

Be attentive to the kind of teaching you expose yourself to. Flee from legalism, false prophets, and distorted teaching based on men and not on Christ (the Scriptures). Of course, you can live alongside people of different faiths, but be active in your responsibility to discern. Hold fast to what is good and aligned with the Word, and discard that which is false teaching.

Yesterday's Word

Receive the Father's strength to face your difficulties

At the end of His time on earth, Jesus knew what would happen to Him when He arrived in Jerusalem. A time of great personal suffering awaited Him before achieving the great victory over death. That’s why He prepared His disciples for that moment.

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”
- Luke 18:31-33

Verse 34 says that the disciples “did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what He was talking about.” They didn’t understand, so they went on with their lives unprepared for what was to come.

Jesus, on His part, prepared Himself for His time of agony. In His prayer at Gethsemane (Luke 22:39-46), we see that He chose to submit to the Father’s will, and the Father sent an angel to strengthen Him.

The result? Jesus faced His moment of greatest physical agony with strength and confidence because He had the Father’s presence and knew the eternal purpose behind His suffering.

Life often surprises us with bad news. How do we react? Do we rebel against what happens, or do we go to the Father to submit to His will and seek the strength He can give?

Draw near to God today and lay your burdens and problems before Him. Decide to submit to His will and receive from Him the strength to move forward. With Him, everything has a purpose, and all things work together for good.

Day Before Yesterday's Word

The Spirit of God dwells in you

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
- Romans 8:5, 9

When you accepted Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in you. This is your reality. How do you know? By the change you experienced within your being. From that moment on, inside you, you know without a doubt that you live for God.

In the same way, you know the Holy Spirit is in you because your greatest desire is to please God and live according to His will. You decided to leave behind the sin that once enslaved you, you surrendered it to God and received His freedom. In moments of doubt or struggle, you turn to God so that He strengthens you and helps you overcome in His name and for His glory. With His help, you remain firm in the faith.

Therefore, do not doubt your salvation. Do not doubt that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Affirm this reality every day as a child of God, spending time with Him and asking for strength to live each day firmly in the purpose He has for you. He is with you and He hears you. You are His child, and with Him, you are more than a conqueror. Listen to the testimony of the Holy Spirit within you:

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
- Romans 8:16
