Today's Word

Forgive and be forgiven

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
- Mark 11:25

Many people mistakenly believe that they can only forgive if the other person apologizes. But if we think forgiveness is only possible when someone asks for it, it often becomes unreachable because some people will never say sorry for the wrongs they’ve done.

It is possible to forgive even when the other person is far away and we don’t know if they’ve repented or not. In some cases, we may need to forgive someone who has already passed away. In that situation, there is no chance for them to show any remorse.

That’s why it’s so important to confess our sins and ask God for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- 1 John 1:9

Unforgiveness is like poison, it steals our joy and keeps us from living the life God wants for us. If you find it hard to forgive, ask God for help, take the first step, and forgive. When we forgive, we release a heavy burden and can move forward with confidence, knowing that God is merciful.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
- Luke 6:36–37

The Father’s table

Jesus described heaven as a meal shared with the people we love. In many ways, the table resembles heaven: it is a place of fellowship and rest where we renew our strength. The table is the place where we set aside differences and find acceptance and forgiveness. This is precisely what Jesus offers us!

You can come to the Father’s table just as you are, but you will not leave the same way. When we sit with God and enjoy His presence, our hearts are filled with peace and joy. Being with the Lord transforms us and brings great happiness to our being.

Jesus sat at the table with all kinds of people (Matthew 9:10), because His mission was to bring healing to their hearts. God’s mercy reaches out to you today. What do you need to receive from the Father’s table today?

Do you need peace? The Lord tells you:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- John 14:27

Do you need forgiveness?

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- 1 John 1:9

Are you discouraged by life’s challenges? Do not forget:

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
- Isaiah 41:10

Whatever your situation may be at this moment, draw near to the Father’s table and receive strength to move forward. Being in God’s presence will transform your whole being.

Day Before Yesterday's Word

Do you trust in the power of God or in the power of men?

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
- Isaiah 30:15

Assyria attacked the people of Israel, and God, through the prophet Isaiah, encouraged the people to trust in Him and in His power.
God would act and deliver them; they only had to wait and trust. But no, the people placed their trust in Egypt and hoped that the power of Pharaoh would protect them. They preferred to see something happen immediately.

God simply asked them to rest and trust in Him and in His power, but the people preferred to see action rather than wait.

Many times we are like that. We know that God is all-powerful and that we can trust Him to fight our battles and bring justice. But we choose to act on our own, to solve things our way, or to trust in people who seem strong, because it appears to be the quickest solution. We are not very good at waiting and trusting.

However, trusting in God is always the best option. He knows what is best for us in every situation, and He loves us more than anyone else, so He only wants what is good for us. Are you in the middle of a battle or a difficult situation? Choose to trust in God, in His love for you and in His infinite power. Under His guidance, the solution will be the best one, and you will live in peace, filled with His peace.

You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
- Isaiah 26:3
