Today's Word
Let us be salt and light
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that His disciples are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven
- Matthew 5:13–16
Jesus did not place any condition on our making a difference. He did not say that one day we would become salt and light if we did this or that. He said that we already are! This means that being salt and light is part of our identity as children of God. If we are disciples of the Lord, then naturally we should contribute our salt and our light for the spiritual well-being of the world.
But what does this mean in practice? Salt was very valuable in Jesus’ time. It helped preserve food so it would not spoil immediately. Back then, people did not have refrigerators in their homes. Salt was used to prevent food from decaying. In the same way, when we bring the flavor of Christ, we help keep society from declining and becoming corrupted.
We are also called to carry the light of Christ wherever we go. When we speak His words, love with His love, show His compassion, and fight for Christ’s justice in the world, we are being light. People see this and recognize the great impact of God’s movement in people’s lives.
Carry the Lord’s light and help preserve this world from the corruption of the enemy. Be salt and light for the glory of God!
Yesterday's Word
Take refuge in the Lord
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
- Psalm 46:1–3
It is normal in life to face difficult moments: illnesses, misunderstandings with loved ones, work problems, financial difficulties, and many other things. These are situations that appear in life without warning and turn everything upside down.
Each of these circumstances tries to steal our peace, makes us anxious, and sometimes even leads us to despair. However, we must remember that, as children of God, we have the help and presence of the Almighty God.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
- Psalm 46:7
Don’t forget! You can always bring your anxieties before God and take refuge in Him. There is no problem in this world greater than our God. Trust in Him and in His power. Come to Him in prayer and do what He places in your heart to do. You will see that when you take refuge in the Lord, your perspective on the situation changes, and you begin to experience His peace in the midst of the storm.

Day Before Yesterday's Word
What is the purpose of your life?
Where do you find meaning in your life? In your career? In your family? In your ministry? All of these things can be blessings, but they are not the primary purpose of your life. For God, the most important thing is your relationship with Him. You were created to live in fellowship with God. Everything else is secondary.
But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.
- Psalm 73:28
The closer your relationship with God becomes, the easier it will be to live according to His will and fulfill His purpose for you. Set aside time every day to talk with God and receive what He wants to teach you. Let Him guide your steps in every situation. Ask Him to guard your mouth so that your words will be a blessing to others. Live the life God desires for you!
Let your testimony, your words, and your life show others that Christ lives in you:
You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
- 2 Corinthians 3:3
Have you been putting God first in your life? Live for Him and allow the Lord to fulfill His purpose in you.
The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.
- Psalm 138:8
