The second coming of Christ will happen in a sudden way, but it will not go unnoticed because it will be something that everyone will see and hear. Jesus will come with power and glory to reign and to judge the nations. For those who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, that will be a day of immense joy because it will mark the beginning of eternity with Jesus.

At that moment, at the sound of the trumpet, the dead in Christ will rise and the believers in Christ who are alive will be caught up.

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

- Matthew 24:30-31

The second coming of Christ will be...sudden, we must be prepared.

God Father is the only one who knows the hour exact in which will happen the second coming of Christ. According as came the flood in a sudden way in the times of Noah, so will be the return of Jesus: sudden. For this, we must be prepared spiritually, living according to the will of God and longing for His return.

36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

- Matthew 24:36-39

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

- Matthew 24:42

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.

Visible, everyone will see Jesus return

When Jesus returns to the earth to reign forever in all His splendor, the whole world will see Him, not just those who believe in Him. The first time He came to a manger as a humble baby. This second time, He will come in a cloud, with all power and great glory, and all of humanity will see His majesty and greatness.

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.

- Revelation 1:7

- Matthew 24:27

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

- Acts 1:9-11

Audible, with a commanding voice and the sound of a trumpet

Jesus will come with great power, and everyone will hear His commanding voice, like a general before his army. Not only that, there will be the sound of a trumpet that will cause great commotion.

51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed - 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

- 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Day of hope and reward for believers in Christ

For the children of God, it will be the wonderful day of redemption, the day when what we have been waiting for will be fulfilled. God will reward those who followed and served Him faithfully. All pain and suffering will be left behind, and everything will be made new. We will be with Christ the King for all eternity.

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.

- Matthew 16:27

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Day of Fire and Destruction

On that day, the heavens and the earth we see today will be destroyed by fire. Nothing and no one will be able to resist or stand before that great fire, and there will only be destruction.

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

- 2 Peter 3:11-14

But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.

- Malachi 3:2

Day of Judgment and Beginning of Jesus' Reign

Jesus will judge all humans and all nations according to their works. He will make a distinction between the sheep (His followers, those who served Him on earth) and the goats (those who rejected Him). He will not only be the Judge but will reign for all eternity. That day will mark the beginning of His everlasting reign.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.

and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”

With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.

He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
