In these last years, we have seen an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, wars, the persecution of Christians, and diseases. Many fear that we are living the end of times.
The truth is that we do not know if this is the case. Only God the Father knows, as Matthew 24:35-37 warns us. But what we do know is that the Bible urges us to be aware of the signs of the times and to be prepared for what is to come.
32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.
- Matthew 24:32-33
What should be the attitude of the Christian at this moment? Obviously, it should not be one of fear. Fear does not come from God. When we feel that it wants to take over our hearts, we must reject it in the name of the Lord. We serve the Almighty God, full of love and mercy, who cares for His children. He loves us with a perfect love that casts out all fear. We must follow the example of Jesus, who did not let Himself be led by fear, but trusted in the love of the Father until the end.
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
- 1 John 4:15-18
We are secure in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father! His love frees us from the power of fear. We can live confidently, knowing that God is sovereign, His presence is with us, and He guides us through any situation.
Let’s look at some of the reasons why we, the children of God, should not fear the increasingly frequent signs of the end of the world.
Say NO to fear and YES to full trust in God!
5 Reasons Not to Fear the End of the World
1. We know who we belong to
We belong to the Lord; there is nothing or no one that can snatch us from His arms. We belong to the Almighty God, the loving Father who never abandons His children. Let us not allow the lies and deception of the enemy to make us doubt this (our) reality.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- 1 John 4:4
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
- John 10:27-28
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
- Ephesians 2:19-20
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 8:37-39
What does the Bible say about The Second Coming of Christ?
2. God is with us
We are not alone! We can be sure of that. After His resurrection and before ascending to heaven, Jesus promised that He would be with us all the days until the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). He is with us! It is in His presence that we receive all the strength necessary to face the trials of this life.
As we get closer to the end of times, we will experience more catastrophes and moments of difficulty. Drawing closer to God and spending time with Him will help us receive the comfort we need during those uncertain and difficult moments and will fill us with strength and courage to continue. We do not fight alone or with our own strength! The King of Kings is by our side!
‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
- Zechariah 4:6b

- Zechariah 4:6b
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
- Psalm 73:21-26
The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing
- Zephaniah 3:17
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
- Matthew 28:20b
3. God is good and in control of everything
The reality is that God’s goodness has not ended, and He is still in control of everything that happens. Even amid the uncertainty of the present times and circumstances that we cannot comprehend, we must continue trusting in the goodness, love, and power of our God. He never changes!
Nothing that happens surprises God: He knows the past, the present, and the future. That’s why He left us in His Word a summary of everything that will happen. He did it so we can prepare and remember that He has everything in His hands. It is our job to remain firm in our faith and in the certainty that God is with us. Let us not give in to the temptation to doubt: let us keep trusting in our Lord.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
- Psalm 100:5
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose.
- Romans 8:28
Reflection on Romans 12:2, do not conform to the pattern of this world.
The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him.
- Nahum 1:7
4. We know who the victor is
We may see much evil around us, and circumstances may seem confusing. But in reality, we already know the end of the story: Jesus won! Yes, He already defeated the power of death and the devil. In Jesus, we have peace amid circumstances and abundant life. That is the life He won for us through His death and resurrection!
Let us not live as defeated: God is more powerful than any attack from the enemy, because God is greater than the enemy. Let us walk in that truth. Let us act with prudence and wisdom in facing the challenges of these times, but let us not lose sight of the fact that we serve the victorious God, the King of Kings, the Conqueror!
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
- 1 Corinthians 15:20-25
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
11 They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”
- Revelation 12:10-12
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 15:57
5. We know our final destiny
In Revelation, we find details about how the end of the world will unfold. We know what will happen. This earth will pass away, it will no longer exist. But the children of God, those of us who have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, will live with Him for eternity. Suffering, pain, death, uncertainty, and disasters—all of that will end. We will live forever with our Heavenly Father. We will enjoy the new heaven and the new earth and praise our God forever.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
- Revelation 21:3-4
23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
- Revelation 21:23-27
What should our response be?
Take your fears to the Lord in prayer. Cry out to Him and receive His peace! Do not let the enemy of souls deceive you. Resist his schemes by using and wisely proclaiming the Word of God! Memorize Bible verses. Purpose in your heart to faithfully fulfill the ministry God has given you. Bring the peace of Jesus to everyone around you!
We want to see a great harvest of souls surrendered to God. It is time to rise up and be even braver in sharing the love of God, the peace, and the hope we have in Him. Pray and intercede for your friends and family who do not yet know the Lord. May they also learn to face their fears and afflictions filled with peace because they have a personal relationship with Jesus, our Savior, and the certainty of eternal life.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
- John 16:33
